Description:

Radiation was discovered in 1896-1898 by Antoine Henri Becquerel, Marie Curie and Pierre Curie. Shortly after, radiotherapy was developed as the first successful treatment against cancer that did not involve surgery. Instead, it involved killing cancer cells using targeted X-rays and gamma rays.
