Description:

Du Bois and Ida B Wells were founding members (though predominantly white organisation at first). Its aims included the right to vote.
Main focus of it's work was legal. It was also formed to challenge the Jim Crow laws in the south.
It established 50 local branches and a journal, The Crisis, edited by Du Bois.
