jan 5, 2018 - Central American Migrant Caravan
Description:
Around 7,000 central American immigrants travel north seeking to escape violence, corruption and lack of economic opportunity in their home countries. The U.S deployed around 5,000 troops to the border to enforce immigration policies and prepare for one of the largest immigrations recorded. Due to this much of the caravan stayed in Mexico and registered for visas or applied for asylum with just over a 1,000 being cleared to work.
Picture: Salvadoran migrants gather near the official border crossing in Tecun Uman, hoping to be allowed to cross legally into Mexico as they make their way north toward the U.S. border.
