feb 4, 1924 - Immigration Act of 1924
Description:
Also known as the National Origins act refined the system created in 1921. This new act lowered the number of immigrants to around 160,000. It also established per country cap allocations that granted Western and northern countries 82% of the quota. This left eastern and southern european countries with only 14% and the remaining Eastern hemisphere with 4%. However, the act did not place quotas on immigrants from the Western hemisphere leaving Mexico and Canada immigration numbers spiking.
