The Glorious Revolution was the name given to the deposition of James II and the accession of William III of Orange and Mary II. James’ supporters, Jacobites, were uprising in Scotland and waging war in Ireland. William’s power was sealed after a couple victories. The Bill of Rights that was supported by those who brought about the revolution established that Parliament was to make laws, no standing army could exist in peacetime, and Catholics could not have certain rights.
