dec 21, 1861 - BATTLE OF BULL RUN - July 21st, 1861 - After a lot of media hype, Lincoln and the new Union army were desperate to prove superiority in the upcoming war. They got beat by "Stonewall" Jackson and his Confederate army in a harsh reality check. Despite this loss, the North quickly recovered. The South, however, got very cocky and undisciplined, meaning that they were less prepared for the future conflict.
