Thucydides VIII:58'In the thirteenth year of the reign of Darius the King, when Alexippidas was Ephor at Lacedaemon,1 a treaty was made in the plain of the Maeander between the Lacedaemonians and their allies on the one hand, and Tissaphernes, Hieramenes, and the sons of Pharnaces on the other, touching the interests of the King, and of the Lacedaemonians and their allies.
