dec 30, 1981 - Plyler v. Doe (1982)
Description:
The Supreme Court in June of 1982 issued Plyer v. Doe, a huge decision holding that states cannot constitutionally deny students a free public education on account of their immigration status. This was a huge accomplishment and regulation put into place so that immigrates get treated fairly where education is concerned. The English language learner education is important and having the laws put in place has made it an equal opportunity for immigrates education. My EL program must stand on equal opportunity for all learners and this ruling will make things must easier so that everyone can learn.
