jan 1, 900 - Rhazes

Description:

Rhazes was a Persian physician and philosopher. For centuries, his writings became fundamental teaching texts in European medical schools. He stressed the need for careful clinical observation and recording, and is notable for distinguishing the difference between smallpox and measles. Although he was a follower of Galenic thought, he disagreed with Galen on certain points and thought it right to question him, writing a book called Doubts on Galen in which he rejected many of his teachings.
