jun 4, 1948 - Berlin Airlift
Description:
Soviet and East Germany military units blocked off a road that lead to West Berlin. Truman would authorize The Berlin Airlift which would last for 15 months. During this time, American and British pilots would fly in enough food and supplies for the western part of Berlin to survive. The Americans and British would at least achieve a public relations victory, because the blockade would be lifted in May 1949. The French, English, and American zones would all mesh together into West Germany and put troops to prevent any more Soviet action.
