aug 30, 1454 - Italian League
Description:
The Italian League was created in partial response to the expansion threats of the Ottomans and the Aragonese, during a time many of the larger Italian powers had been consolidating and expanding. The Italian States of Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples, and the Papal States established a mutual defense agreement and began a 25 year truce. The Italian states also acknowledged Francesco Sforza as the successor to the Visconti in Milan, allowing him to consolidate his rule over Milan. This began good relations between Florence and Milan, ending a traditional rivalry.
