Description:

Agnese del Main, the mother of Bianca Maria Visconti, wife of Franisco Sforza, convinced the condottieri who held Pavia to restore the Duchy of Milan to Sforza. He received the seigniory of other cities of the Duchy and began to plan his conquest, allying with William VIII of Montferrat and Venice. In 1450, after years of famine, riot raged in the streets of Milan and the city's state decided to entrust to Sforza the Duchy. Sforza entered the city as Duke on February 26. House of Sforza would make Milan one of the leading cities of the Italian Renaissance.
