American colonist saw this battle as a major revolutionary event form which there was no turning back. The Battle of Lexington was supposed to be an easy capture and destroying the Colonial military supplies stored by the Massachusetts militia, but words were the patriots knew weeks before this would happen and moved the supplies to somewhere else. As the sun was rising all troops were gathered, the first shot was fired.
