oct 7, 1763 - Royal Proclamation passed

Description:

The Royal Proclamation was the first act the British government made to keep their colonies in check. But it was also the first act that enraged the colonists. In order to maintain friendly trade relationships with the First Nations, Britain wanted to end the warfare between the First Nations and the colonists. British decided to pass the Royal Proclamation, which kept American settlements out of the Ohio Valley. This pleased the First Nations, but not the colonists. The colonists, specifically the American land speculators, wanted the land so they could own and sell the land.
