Description:

State bankruptcy of Philip II threw the German banking houses into chaos and ended the reign of the Fuggers as Spanish financiers. Genoese bankers provided the Habsburgs with fluid credit and regular income, in return for less dependable shipments of silver to provide capital for further ventures.
