Description:

After Pisa tried to gain control of Corsica in 1282 following a revolt against Genoa, Genoa blockades Pisa and war preparations begin for both. Pisan fleet tries to avoid combat and wear out Genoese fleet. The conflict culminates in the Battle of Meloria, in which the Genoese fleet destroyed the Pisan fleet. Pisa would never recover as a maritime competitor, and Genoa gained control of commerce in Corsica.
