Appears ‘the Depp source’ Sara Kitnick is placing pro Amber Heard articles disguised as Johnny Depp articles. Some of the details here have been borrowed from other interviews but one or two snippets are intriguing - could be from Whitney, Rocky, iO or even Amber Heard herself - but certainly done with her blessing bearing in mind the friendship group.
...He's also working hard to play nice with his temperamental singer-actress ex. A source says Depp, who relocated to L.A. following the split, is even allowing Paradis to bunk at his eight-bedroom Hollywood Hills mansion until the renovations are finished at her own L.A.area pad.
"They're really trying to get along for the sake of the kids," says the Depp friend. So far their peace pact has worked. Depp said Lily-Rose and Jack have been "incredibly understanding, incredibly strong throughout the whole ordeal.”
A New Love
And completely sheltered from Dad's romantic life. Since cozy nights in at Depp's Hollywood manse are out (hello, awkward ex encounter!), the actor and Heard hole up in her L.A. home. "They like to talk and hang out for hours," says a source of the eccentric Kentucky-born star and the Texas-raised beauty (who dated photographer Tasya van Ree prior to Depp). "She's dark and edgy, and he can ask her anything and she doesn't flinch.”
To decompress, they like to kick back on the couch for a little TV. Pirates of the Caribbean is out - the self-conscious Depp hasn’t watched any of his films in years, except for 2004’s The Libertine - but trashy reality television is A-OK. (The S20 million-a-picture film star has a soft spot for TLC's Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Lowbrow viewing tastes aside, the pair share a love of academia. They bond over their respect for Hunter S. Thompson, who penned The Rum Diary (they met while shooting the film adaptation of the book in 2009). Another pal says they journal together. Depp, who always keeps a weathered copy of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake on hand, has maintained a diary for nearly three decades. Notes the star, “I've made a very conscious effort now over the last few years to write honestly"
Depp is just as adept with a paintbrush. Though he's "basically blind as a bat" in his left eye, he creates portraits of friends such as Bob Dvlan. (One notable work: a painting of a faceless man titled Phil Collins.) Depp's artistic bent has rubbed off on Heard. For his 50th birthday June 9, she crafted him a collage of photos and quotes. Explains a pal, "She was like, What do you get the guy who has everything?' So she made him something instead."
Besides, it's hard to top Depp in the gifting department. First there was the horse he gave Heard last spring. Then there was the replica of the Rum Diary bar that he had crafted on his 45-acre Bahamian island. Says a source. "It was a surprise. He had the set designer create it."
