may 17, 1954 - Brown v. Board of Ed
Description:
Linda Brown was a third grade girl who lived 6 blocks away from a school, but that school was a whites only school. So she was forced to walk 22 blocks to the blacks only school. Her father sued, claiming they were not "separate but equal" as was established in the Plessy v. Ferguson case, so the court ruled that there was no separation by color in public schools.
