June 1776 Thomas Jefferson wrote a draft of the Declaration of Independence. He was asked to write the draft of it by John Adams. He had written a pamphlet called A Summary Review of the Rights of British America. Since he had written this the committee voted on and made Thomas Jefferson in charge of the draft.Added to timeline:
