aug 6, 1965 - Voting Rights Act This act was signed into law on August 6th, 1965 by president Lyndon B. Johnson. This law made the discriminatory practices listed earlier like poll taxes, literacy tests, grandfather clauses, and more mainly in southern states illegal. It also made all discrimination relating to gender, race, nationality, etc.
