Description:
The Soviet Union up until this point was at a severe disadvantage to the USA, it had no nuclear bombs. If conflict were to erupt, they would have found themselves winning in Europe yes but facing nuclear holocaust at home from nuclear bombardment. But by 1949 they finally matched the US's hand, escalating the cold war yet again.
