apr 1, 1775 - The Battles of Lexington and Concord
Description:
The British soldiers were given orders to arrest leaders of the Sons of Liberty and destroy guns and gunpowder that the minutemen were hiding. Three messengers- Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Presscott- went to warn the minutemen. On April 19, the British got to Lexington where they found 70 minutemen waiting for them. No one was supposed to shoot but shots were fired. After the 15-minute battle, the British moved on to Concord where they lost 3 soldiers but lost many more by the hiding minutemen on their way back to Boston.
