Description:
- Charles listened to Lord Digby who said Parliament was going to impeach the Queen
- He marched on the houses of parliament to arrest the MPs who were against him
- the 5 : John Pym, John Hampden, Denzil Holles, William Strode, and Sir Arthur Hesilrige.
- Lord Mandeville was also on the list and had been known to oppose Charles, but he didn't get arrested
- Charles took an army of 300 with him
- The five escaped down the Thames on a boat
- When Charles arrived, the speaker refused to say where they were
- The speaker said, famously, had neither "eyes to see, nor mouth to speak" unless the house of commons allowed him
- The king replied, "I see as well as any man and I see the birds have flown."
