Description:
- 4,000-12,000 killed by catholic Irish
- Irish rebels claimed to be doing it in the King's name
- Charles needed an army, but parliament said no because he refused to name his commander
- worried he would put in place a man who would defeat parliament before defeating the Irish
- Charles appointed a mercenary, Thomas Lunsford, as captain of the Tower of London at the time
- Parliament were angry and Charles back down and removed him, showing he could be forced
