jan 1, 413 - 414 C.E. Theodosian Wall's

Description:

The Theodosian Walls were a set of
fortifications built around the Greek city of Byzantium/Constantinople that began construction in 404 CE. Construction in earnest began in 412 CE after the capture of Rome two years earlier by the Visigoths and were completed in 414 CE.

The Theodosian walls are significant because they are one of the most famous and influential pieces of fortifications from antiquity and helped ensure the stability and protection needed for Byzantium/Constantinople to prosper into one of the greatest cities of the world. The greatness and longevity of the walls are a testament to the importance the Greeks placed on defending such a wealthy and influential city that had quickly become the center of the Roman world.
