apr 5, 1764 - Sugar Act

Description:

Britain needed to pay for the War so they decided to tax the colonies. The Sugar Act taxed luxury items such as wine and silk to the colonies. It also affected molasses and lowered the duty on it. Before, molasses was widely smuggled so Britain gave tax collectors the right to search homes for smuggled items.
