jan 1, 1882 - Chinese Exclusion Act

Description:

the Congress passed and Chester B. Arthur signed the Chinese Exclusive Act, prohibited Chinese immigrant and denied their naturalization of the Chinese (rejected their right to become US citizens). Since Chinese were willing to work for a much lower wage than the white people, they outcompeted the whites, taking away jobs opportunity. It’s the first time in history that a special ethic group was restricted from immigration in order to protect jobs for the whites.
