Description:
The Kansas-Nebraska Act allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether slavery is prohibited or not. The act, passed by the US Congress on May 30, 1854, served to cancel out the Missouri Compromise, which restricted slavery from the north of latitude 36°30’.
