jan 1, 396 BC - Romans Gain Control of the Italian Peninsula
The Roman conquest of Italy was the result of a series of conflicts in which the city-state of Rome grew from being dominant to becoming the ruler of all of Italy.
The date of 396 BC was chosen because this was the year final defeat of her Veii, which showed Rome had conquered the entire Italian Peninsula.
