SIlent Spring was a book published in 1962 by Rachel Carson. The book was primarily a love letter to the environment, and as a critique of those who aren't doing their part to fix it. The book was extremely controversial and popular upon release, and big chemical companies even tried to refute the claims made. Silent Spring is significant, as its popularity gave environmental issues brand new exposure before things like Earth Day existed, so its was part of the build up to get things like Earth Day and the EPA.Added to timeline:
