sep 16, 1987 - Montreal Protocol
Description:
The Montreal Protocol is a treaty that was designed to phase out the use of ozone depleting gases, mainly CFCs (chloroflourocarbons), a gas commonly used in aerosols that broke down in the atmosphere, which would cause the chlorine atoms to bond to ozone molecules, creating the antarctic ozone hole. This is important because not only did it stop the progress of the ozone hole, it is also the only treaty in world history to be ratified by every U.N. member state.
