1h 19min, jun 28, 1778 y - Battle of Monmouth Courthouse

Description:

"The Battle of Monmouth Courthousewas fought on June 28, 1778, during the American Revolutionary War. It was part of the Philadelphia Campaign (a British effort to gain control of Philadelphia), ended in a stalemate, and was the last battle of the campaign."

Sequence of Events (It was a bit difficult to find a specific sequence of events for this battle, but I tried my best):
- 1777- The Philadelphia campaign was launched by Sir William Howe to capture the rebels' capital and persuade them to sue for peace.
- June 15, 1777- the British began to withdraw from Philadelphia, crossing into the River Delaware into New Jersey. This march was conducted in a heat wave of about 90 degrees F, which resulted in super slow progress.
- June 24- The first group arrived at their destination (Allentown). The fighting begins
- June 26- British suffered nearly 40 casualties in near constant skirmishes.
- Spring 1778- the formerly loyalist Monmouth Court House had come under patriot control.
- June 27- By this point Washington still didn't really have much of a plan for battle, but Lee thought he could do it.
- June 28- Battle is in full swing now with lots of fighting happening.
- June 29- Washinton withdrew his army to Englishtown where they rested (probably drank a bunch) the next day.
