nov 15, 1777 - Articles of Confederation Created
Description:
The Articles of Confederation were written by a committee composed of one representative from each colony. John Dickinson, the Delaware representative, was the primary writer. Starting March 1st, 1781, the Articles served as the United States’ first constitution. However, they created a chaotic combination of sovereign states and a weak central government, ultimately leaving the state governments with most of the power. On March 4, 1789, the Articles of Confederation were replaced by the present-day United States Constitution.
