jan 1, 1765 - Stamp Act
Description:
This was a tax on things like legal documents such as wills, diplomas, and marriage papers. It was also on newspapers, almanacs, playing cards, and dice. The British were required to have stamps on these things showing the tax had been paid.
Then the British officials tried to put this act on the American colonists. But they rioted against it because they had no say in it.
