oct 19, 1781 - Battle of Yorktown

Description:

After General Cornwallis and his army retreated to the Yorktown peninsula, Washington made a plan to trap them. The Americans and French both blocked Cornwallis from the Bay and land. He lasted several weeks before finally giving in. This marked the end of the war, the British had lost. In the next couple of years, the Treaty of Paris was signed and sealed.
