Description:
A committee was formed to create the DoI. This included John Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman among others. Out of these people they chose Jefferson to draft the DoI. The DoI was the colonists' way of telling the world they were apart from the British. It was adopted on July 4.Added to timeline:
