may 20, 1774 - Intolerable Acts - Massachusetts Government Act
Description:
This was a series of Laws passed by the British Parliament for the American colonies. There were four, which were the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act.
This gave the King and Parliament the ability to appoint the officials of The Massachusetts Council.
This previously had been democratically elected (with the governor’s governor’s approval)
It also gave the governor the ability to choose judges and county sheriffs, which had previously needed the council’s approval and County sheriffs could now also appoint jurors
It also restricted the town meetings to once a year only.
