Description:
This act was put in place by the British in order to make money without British intervention. It was put in place since, after their various losses around the globe, England was in need of money to pay off everything from the wars and needed to find a way to fix their financial debt. This act put a tax on all paper items and official documents such as newspapers, postcards, stamps, and that were sold in the American colonies with a stamp on them that marked that they were taxed. It taxed newspapers, almanacs, pamphlets, broadsides, legal documents, dice, and playing cards. This act angered the colonists, especially the patriots.
