Was a military pact where the French promised to provide the United States military aid during the Revolutionary War. The promise was formalized in the 1778 Treaty of Alliance, which was signed by Benjamin Franklin and two other commissioners, Silas Deane and Arthur Lee. They also created a Treaty of Amity and Commerce.
