'Bully' Documentary
Johnny Depp
Support
Description:
Johnny Depp, Justin Bieber and Meryl Streep have joined a raft of celebrities lending support to “Bully,” the powerful Lee Hirsch documentary about bullying in schools that’s been slapped with an R rating by the MPAA, which means many teens won’t be able to see it. Streep will host a screening with her daughter Mamie Gummer and attorney David Boies, along with his daughter, Mary, in New York on Tuesday. Ted Olson, former US solicitor general under George W. Bush, will also host. Sources say Depp could shoot an antibullying PSA. MPAA chief Chris Dodd is hosting a Washington, DC, screening today with a panel including Harvey Weinstein, director Hirsch, DC Public Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson and Child Health Advocacy Institute head Dr. Joseph Wright. Katy Butler, the Michigan student who’s gotten 290,000 petition signatures asking for a PG-13 rating, will also be there, as will three families from the film.
