The Battle of Kettle Creek was a Patriot attack on a Loyalist militia headed to Augusta, Georgia, which was held by Britain at the time. It was also the first major win for Patriot forces in back country Georgia. The British were led by John Boyd (killed in combat) and William Spurgen. The Americans were led by Andrew Pickens, Colonel James Little, and Elijah Clarke
