The Battle of Yorktown was a sea campaign that trapped a major British army on a peninsula at Yorktown, Virginia, and forced its surrender. The siege ended military operations in the American Revolution. Leaders on each side were George Washington on American and Lieutenant-General de Rochambeau on the French side. The British had Major-General Lord Cornwallis to lead them. The American forces won the battle.
