Also known as the Battle of Brooklyn and the Battle of Brooklyn Heights. It was a battle between Great Britain and The United States. The commanders and leaders for Britain were William Howe, Charles Cornwallis, Henry Clinton, William Erskine, James Grant, Charles Mawhood, and Francis Smith. The commanders and leaders for United States were George Washington, Israel Putnam, William Alexander, Thomas Mifflin, Henry Knox, and John Sullivan. During this battle, a lot of the American army crossed the East River to Manhattan, which resulted in a successful escape. 300 Americans died, 650 were wounded, and 1,100 were captured. 63 British people died and 314 were wounded.
