mar 22, 1765 - STAMP ACT PASSED

Description:

The stamp act is where Britain place a stamp on the documents, newspapers, playing cards for the colonists, in return, they pay money and tax. The colonists weren't so happy about this, not so much because the tax was high, but because they had no direct representation in the parliament that had collected the tax. It was viewed as a direct attempt by England to raise money in the colonies without the approval of the colonial legislatures - taxation without representation.
