mar 5, 1770 - Boston massacre

Description:

The Boston Massacre took place on March 5th 1770. A group of British soldiers were guarding the Customs house in Boston. Then a few patriots show up and began taunting, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, at the British soldiers. This leads to soldiers firing, when the smoke cleared 5 colonists were dead. Apart from the 5 dead 3 more where also injured. These deaths marked the first fatalities of the American revolution. As a result of this the British soldiers were put on trial, when the trial ended in December 1770, two British soldiers were found guilty of manslaughter and had their thumbs branded with an “M” for murder as punishment.
