oct 17, 1781 - Surrender of General Cornwallis at Yorktwon

Description:

The Battle of Yorktown was considered the most important battle of the American War for Independence. It was the battle that officially ended this eight-year war. On September 28, 1781, General George Washington began a siege against Charles Cornwallis, a British general. Cornwallis was trying to lead his troop of 9000 out of America, but the American and French had encircled them already. There was no escaping. Eventually, after much battle, on October 17, Cornwallis surrendered. The American War for Independence was officially over.
