feb 6, 1778 - France allies with America
Description:
On February 6, 1778, the Treaty of Amity and Commerce and the Treaty of Alliance between the Untied States and France were signed. The two treaties recognized the United States as independent and it ensured military support from both sides. At first, France was unwilling to ally with America, but as America gained more victories on battlefields, France was convinced that allying with America would be a good choice. Moreover, France wanted to defeat Britain for taking away their land. If not for the support of France, America would not have won the war with Britain as easily.
