The black death invaded Italy by sea. In October of 1347, the black death made landfall in the country. The disease entered he country when 12 Genoese trading ships docked in Sicily. The merchants were horrified to discover that most of the sailors aboard were dead with the plague.The black death came in two waves. First, the pneumonic plague, then the bubonic plague.
