jan 5, 1991 BC - Middle Kingdom

Description:

2040-1783 BCE
~
King Mentuhotep II from Thebes finally succeeded in overthrowing the Heracleopolitan kings of the 9th/10th Dynasty, reuniting Egypt after almost a century of chaos and civil war.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Disclaimer: the Middle Kingdom also includes the 11th dynasty but I already covered that)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
12th Dynasty:
1991-1783 BCE
~
According to the Turin King-list, the dynasty started with Amenemhat I and consisted of 8 kings who ruled for a total of 213 years, 1 month and 17 days. Other sources, though, say differently. According to Manetho, the 12th Dynasty comprised seven kings from Thebes, who ruled for a total of 160 years in the version of Africanus, and for 245 years in the version of Eusebius, but these don't include the founder of the Dynasty. Also, it is unknown why the 12th Dynasty started.
