Over the weekend, Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hit the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office to secure its place in movie history.

Only seven films have crossed the $1 billion milestone; On Stranger Tides becomes No. 8.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest also is a member of the billion-dollar club, having earned $1.1 billion worldwide. On Stranger Tides is certain to pass up Dead Man’s Chest.

On Stranger Tides has done massive business at the international box office, where it’s grossed $774 million through Sunday. Domestically, it’s earned $233.7 million for a worldwide total of $1.007 billion.
